Throughout Serenity weighted blanket website you will see images of a beautiful blonde teenager who to the outside world looks like she has it all, this is my daughter Kenza, she has suffered with generalized anxiety disorder and OCD from the tender age of 7 years old, I have spent many years taking my daughter to different councilors, talking therapy's and even considered medication as a last resort.
OCD is a very debilitating mental illness and one I know way to much about as I became unwell with OCD when I was pregnant with Kenza … is this a coincidence? a question I ask myself on a regular basis in-between beating myself up for my daughter picking up on my irrational worries.
That is our back story and how Serenity Weighted Blankets came to be, I am always on the look out for anything that will comfort my daughter, help to bring her down from her anxiety and ultimately help give her a feeling of calmness and wellbeing.
Two years ago I discovered a few different things that helped both Kenza and I, one of them was Rekik, if you haven't tried it you really should as it was a game changer for us! the other was an article I read on how a weighted blanket can reduce stress and how it helps raise serotonin levels (the happy hormone ) and dopamine (a hormone released during pleasurable experiences).
I was intrigued to say the least and possibly a little skeptical so I ordered several weighted blankets from companies claiming to be number one and some were better than others.
I gave Kenza and weighted blanket and I used one myself and the difference we both felt was enough for me to decide I wanted to create the worlds best weighted blanket, I owed it to my daughter, myself and frankly anyone else suffering from depression, anxiety, Sleep disorders, restless leg syndrome PTSD to know and feel the benefits of a weighted blanket.
